Because Locke is an amazing and exceptional liar. Because the author laora so busy drowning his main plot in irrelevant crap that ax forgot he had an actual story to tell. Dammit, Jean, I already know this shit. The Name of the Wind.
Another great fantasy, this novel follows a talented rogue and conman, Locke Lamora, through his adventures in Camorr, a city loosely patterned after Venice, but set in a world where humans have built their society over the ruins of a much older race called the Eldren.
Lynch presents his chapters in a way that shows two timelines. Our protagonist Locke Lamora is not good looking, he isn’t at all good in a fight, and we get to watch him be impotent in bed, an arrogant little snit who gets slapped down several times, and taking very very petty, not noble revenge on a bunch of people. Fans of fantasy full of humor, adventures, and blood.
But truly once you get into the flow of the book, which takes about 50 or so pages, you just sink, and keep going deeper and deeper. Sometimes things go awry just Some parts shocked me to the core, and way too many characters were lost is a short span.

This book is exactly what you’re looking for, IF you’re looking for a fantasy riddled, ruthless, enigmatic piece of art. This one succeeded, madly. Fortunately Locke’s personality continued to develop and the point of view seemed to settle a little deeper into him as things progressed. He has written in very well too, for the loc,e part, although there are a few moments when his prose goes overboard.
I love how he’s theatrical about it.

Locke is the best thief I’ve ever read about. I also loved how the author never takes the easy way out. I also loved seeing the rise and fall of rival gangs, and how Locke navigated the bureaucracy of criminal societies with poise.
