This is how my Memphis-area grandmother taught me to make fried green tomatoes: Slice tomatoes and dredge in stone-ground white cornmeal. Place on a cookie sheet. Put in freezer till firm. At this point you can use them, or transfer them to a freezer bag to store in the freezer they keep fine for months. Fry in a frying pan with some oil. The trick is to fry them frozen – they get nice and crisp on the timatoes without getting too cooked on the inside.

I consider myself blessed to have been able to experience the love and dedication that I learned with my employment there. Here in So Cal, my tomato plant was still producing tomatoes! They will never get ripe, so I uprooted the plant today and I made fried green tomatoes using your recipe!

My latest pron blog http: I made this tonight and it came out very well. The flagh coated the tomatoes and crisped up nicely. I used three medium sized tomatoes and ended up with about twice as much batter as I needed. After the tomatoes were done, I put them in a degree oven to keep them warm.

Then, I dumped the excess oil from the frying pan and poured in the leftover batter to make a pancake. I served the tomatoes and the pancake with a delicious remoulade.
